Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ready to offer Leicester Jesse Lingard plus cash to complete James Maddison transfer
Manchester United are reportedly preparing to offer Jesse Lingard and £45million to Leicester in a bid to sign James Maddison.
Maddison, the England international, has starred for the Foxes since his move from Norwich in 2018 and under Brendan Rodgers this term he has already scored six goals and added three assists in 20 Premier League appearances.
Solskjaer is ready to tempt Leicester with a £45m offer and is said to be willing to offer him a contract worth £150,000 a week, though any deal is unlikely to be completed until the summer.
Despite the speculation, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has remained adamant that Maddison will not leave the King Power during the January transfer window.
“Nobody will leave here that we don’t want to go,” he told the media earlier this week.
“I think we’ve had a couple of enquiries in terms of loans and for some of our younger players.
“But the players that are always talked about and mentioned, there will be nobody going.”
Lingard, meanwhile, has struggled for form throughout 2019, failing to record a goal or assist in the Premier League in the entire year.
The 27-year-old started in United’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal earlier this week but was substituted by Solskjaer after just 58 minutes.
